THE BRIEF

 Malarkey Cake Business School wanted not only to run training courses on aspects of cake making, but also on setting up and running a successful cake business.

Katie, the owner, had experience of face to face training but knew that she needed to provide online on-demand training to meet student needs and to make best use of her own time.

She looked at the various online platforms but after careful research realised that having her own site had numerous advantages over using a third party platform.

It had to be easy for students to sign up, pay and use the training, and easy for Katie to upload her content.

How we helped

 

We built a prototype so Katie could get an idea of the final product. Besides the actual courses we included a sales page and integrated email list tool.

Using Katie’s content we put together the layout for the lessons for the first course and then provided explanatory videos so that Katie could add further courses herself.

In line with our mission to provide more than just websites, Martin was also able to pass on his experiences of presenting videos with over a million hits.

Results so far

 

Within a week of launch Malarkey Cake Business school more than covered our costs of building the school – and as we don’t charge extra for further courses, their profits should only grow from here.

Students signed up not only from the UK as expected, but from Europe and further afield too – reaching customers that would have never been possible with face to face classroom teaching.

The online school has also led to offers to teach at well known industry establishments and grown recognition of the Malarkey brand.
